Making notes

Shape the red hat and its bent tip first. Keep the white pompom connected through the hat, then place the two black eyes before filling the peach face and broad beard.

Choose this Santa portrait when you want the familiar hat-and-beard character without counting a belt, gloves or boots. The large white beard forms most of the lower silhouette, while a bent red cap and attached pompom distinguish the top. Only two black beads are needed for the eyes.

Construct the cap from its narrow crown down to the long red band above the brim. Follow the kink beside the pompom carefully instead of closing the little hat gap. Lay the white brim across the forehead, position the eye pair on row 15, and fill the cheek area. Finish by stepping the beard inward toward its two-bead point on row 23. The pompom sits to the viewer's right and makes the portrait intentionally uneven. Do not reflect the hat as though both sides match. Around rows 10–12, separate white trim from empty squares; the break beside the pompom is not a missing white bead. Moving an eye into the beard changes the expression immediately.

Pattern layout and bead count

Reserve a complete 25×25 area on one square pegboard. The drawing occupies columns 5–23 and rows 3–23; the extra space on the left balances the right-hand pompom visually, not geometrically. The last two rows are empty guides rather than extra beard length. Checkpoints: The only Black beads are the two eyes at row 15, columns 10 and 15. Row 23 ends the beard with two adjacent White beads at columns 12–13. The palette totals are Red 64, White 130, Peach 42 and Black 2, for 238 beads. The cap starts on row 3 with two adjacent Red beads at columns 13–14.

Ways to customize this pattern

Change the hat to a deeper red or give each family member a different hat color. Retain the white brim and beard so the portrait still reads as Santa rather than a plain face.

Sort 64 Red P05, 130 White P01, 42 Peach P33 and two Black P18 beads. White is the largest pile because it serves both facial hair and hat trim. Peach should stay distinct from the empty board background. If a brand switch makes neighboring shades look too similar, review its material list before committing to those supplies.

Print and iron checklist

The broad beard warms differently from the small pompom connection. Check that connection before lifting, avoid pulling on the cap tip, and support the chin as the piece releases. Use the selected bead manufacturer's heating guidance and keep the portrait flat during cooling. Before export, verify the 25×25 coordinates, 238-bead total and the selected brand’s merged color counts against the on-page material list.

Project ideas for Santa Face

Display this head-only silhouette on a gift tag backing, greeting card or framed family craft display. Arrange several hats in a row while keeping each face as its own connected piece, with support beneath the pointed white beard.

The source grid uses B and the other design symbols only as internal color roles. The interactive chart replaces them with the selected manufacturer codes, while its material list combines any roles that map to the same bead color.
