Use a bead letter chart
- Enter supported characters. Enter uppercase or lowercase A–Z, digits 0–9, spaces, new lines, and the listed punctuation. Each character uses the site’s pixel font, so preview and export share one editable grid.
- Review the grid and pieces. Check the final dimensions, counts, color codes, board tiles, and connected pieces. The connection check reports components; a background can join a sign, while separate parts need separate-piece planning.
- Match your physical palette. Use the codes from the selected brand registry. Screen appearance is an approximation, so verify the code, batch, and a fuse test with your own beads.
- Save a local chart. Download a PNG of the current edited grid or open the browser print dialog for 29 × 29 reference tiles and save it as a PDF.
Bead letter generator FAQ
How many beads do I need for a name?
The total and Materials list are calculated from your current grid, including edits. With Fill background beads on, every background cell is included; with it off, empty pegs count as zero beads.
Is every letter really seven beads high?
A basic glyph is five columns by seven rows before spacing, scale, and margins. Scaling, margins, and additional lines affect the final grid dimensions. The background switch changes filled cells and bead counts, not the grid dimensions.
Will my letters stay joined when I iron them?
Not always. O, X, punctuation, and spaced letters may form separate pieces. Turn on Fill background beads or plan separate pieces. The software checks four-neighbor edge connections, not physical fusing strength, so test with your own beads.
Can I make a Perler name keychain?
Use a short name as a starting chart, then edit it for your layout. The generator does not add a hanging loop or hole, so plan that feature and check it against your keychain hardware before fusing.
Can I print a PDF or download a PNG?
Download PNG saves the current edited chart. Print / save PDF opens 29 × 29 reference tiles in your browser print dialog; choose Save as PDF to save the printable chart locally.
Is my text kept private?
Yes. Text, edits, counts, and exports stay in this browser; this page has no text-sharing backend.
Which characters and lowercase letters can I use?
Use A–Z, 0–9, spaces, new lines, and ! ? . , - + & / ' :. Supported ASCII lowercase letters convert to the same uppercase 5×7 glyphs. Non-ASCII characters are identified before a chart is generated.
Can I add a heart or use non-Latin letters?
The text generator accepts only the listed ASCII characters, not a heart symbol or non-Latin text. You can load a supported chart and draw a heart by hand in the editor instead.
Is the bead letter generator free?
Yes. The generator and its local exports are free to use in the browser.
How is this different from the Alpha Pattern Generator?
This tool makes bead-grid lettering with bead codes and peg layout. The Alpha Pattern Generator makes friendship-bracelet knot charts with DMC thread guidance.
Plan and print your bead letters
What do the counts and board tiles mean?
Every filled cell is one bead, including white background beads. Empty pegs count as zero. Perler, Hama, Artkal A and Nabbi use the registry’s 29 × 29 board planning size. MARD has no verified standard board size here: its count is only a 29 × 29 reference layout, not a MARD board specification. All tile counts describe the rectangular layout, not an optimized packing of separate letters.
PNG chart or PDF?
Download PNG saves the current edited grid with coordinates and your selected layers. Print / save PDF opens printable 29 × 29 tiles; choose Save as PDF in your browser’s print dialog. Turn on color codes for a cell-by-cell code chart. A letter can have disconnected diagonal strokes even with zero letter spacing: add background or plan separate pieces, then test fusing.
